View Article  Postgame: Mets-Atlanta Game 1

The Mets man handled Tim Hudson and the Atlanta Braves tonight by the score of 7-1. Tim Hudson lasted 6 innings gave up 6 hits and 4 earned runs. John Maine went 7 innings gave up 1 earned run on a wild pitch and struck out 7. He had his slider working for him tonight along with his high fastball.

Carlos Delgado hit a 3 run homerun in the 4th inning and Reyes hit a solo homerun in the 5th. Gary Cohen said, "Marlon Anderson is the best pitch hitter on the planet," and he didn't disappoint tonight when he came up with the bases loaded in the 9th and hit a base clearing double to basically put any come back to rest.

Heilman came on in the 8th and had a 1 2 3 inning and theen Schowenweis came on in the 9th and looked good.

I'm glad Maine pitched good and went far in the game to give the pen a rest. What can you say about Marlon, he is the best pitch hitter in the game. Carlos Delgado had hard hits and almost had 2 homeruns as his second at bat wwent to the wall. With Pelfrey on for tomorrow this bullpen might be up in the 4th inning.

View Article  News: El Duque out Indefinetely

According to WFAN, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez is out indefinetely with a foot injury. Pedro Martinez will start in his place Monday, at Cincinnati.

Can it get any worse? I mean come on Baseball Gods, spare us. At least Pedro starts on Monday, guess the BP Session went well.

In other news, Mike Pelfrey will start tomorrow against the Braves

Come on Mike, Prove me wrong buddy.

View Article  Rumor: Pelfrey to start Saturday

The word is that Mike Pelfrey, and not Phil Humber, will start Saturday against the Braves.

I dont get this at all. Pelfrey has failed miserably at the Major League Level, and with the lead being down to 2 games, Id rather not be giving games away.

The Mets lost to the Phillies today by a score of 11-10. Billy Wagner took the loss, giving up 3 runs in 1.1 innings today. Tom Gordon got the win for the Phils

Worst loss of the year, no doubt.

Im speechless.

Sorry folks, missed the pregame today, i'll be doing the postgame after the game.

Game is currently 8-5 Phils going into the 7th.

Lets go METS!

View Article  Postgame: Mets-Phillies Game 3

The Mets now have a 4 gam losing streak after losing last nights game to the Phillies by the score of 3-2. After giving up 2 solo homeruns in the 1st, Oliver Perez rebounded and struck out 10 in 6 innings. Jose Reyes started the game with a single but then got picked off by Jaime Moyer. In that same inning David Wright launched his 24th homerun to straight away centerfield. Carlos Delgado chipped in with a rbi single.

With one out in the 9th inning Dukie walked and then was pinch ran for by Endy Chavez. Marlon Anderson then hit for Milledge and hit a line drive in the gap, which was ran down by the speedy Shane Victorino to hold Marlon to a single. Situation is nw 1stt and 3rd 1 out with Shawn Green up. With the count 2-2 Green hits a soft grounder to Rollins who double pumps to Tad who then gets laid out by Marlon which CB Buckner calls interference and the Mets lose.

Ladies and Gentleman I am not worried if this race comes down between the Mets and Phillies. The last 2 out 3 seasons the Phils have choked to when coming down the stretch. But if the "other," team gets back in it I might get a little worried.

View Article  Easley Done for the year

According to Adam Rubin at the Daily News, Damion Easley has gone home and is not expected to return this season.

Bad News, but we all figured after that injury he was not coming back. Get Well Man

Thanks to Dan from Hotfoot for the link.

View Article  Saturdays Start against Atlanta

The Mets have a vacant opening in their starting rotation, most likely only for one more start until Pedro Martinez is back from his Rehab in St Lucie. The Mets will go to either Mike Pelfrey or Phil Humber.

Humber, has been pitching well of late, taking a no hitter into the 9th inning of his last start.

Pelfrey has been decent in the minors, but has been an utter disaster in the majors this year, sporting an 0-7 record with a 5.92 era.

I dont know about anyone else, but its Phil Phil Phil for me. Give the kid a shot, its only for one start, keeping the spot warm for Petey.

View Article  Panic Mode-Not Yet

These last few days have been rough for mets fans, the mets having only scored 10 runs in 4 games. What many fans dont realize is that before Saturdays game against the Dodgers, the mets had scored 5+ runs in 12 straight games, going 8-4 during that span. The Mets are consistently inconsistent. They will have their 2 or 3 game winning streaks, and their 2 or 3 game losing streaks, but havent had a 8 game winning streak, nor an 8 game losing streak yet this year. All im trying to get across is that the Mets will be fine, and only if the Mets get swept here in Philly, and than in Atlanta, THEN i will be in Panic Mode..

View Article  Postgame: Mets-Phillies Game 2

The Mets lost a tough one to the Phillies tonight, by the score of 4-2 in 10. Tom Glavine did all he could, shutting down the Phillies for 7, but the Bullpen squandered the lead in the 8th, and eventually lost the game in the 10th. Ryan Howard took Guillermo Mota deep to end it, after Mota looked sharp throughout his 2 innings of duty

man.. that one hurt, badly. Mota looked BETTER tonight, but still took the loss.

Jose Reyes continues his mini slump, going 0-5, following last nights 0-5

When Reyes goes 0 for, the mets dont win. plain and simple.

Carlos Delgado was the only bright spot on this otherwise gloomy night, hitting a moonshot into the 2nd deck in Citizens Bank. Delgado also just missed his 2nd homer of the night in the 6th, sending Jayson Werth back to the fence.

Is Delgado BACK? we shall see..

Again, Adam Eaton dominated everyone not named Carlos Delgado for 5.2 innings

As i stated in the Pregame, we just cant seem to beat this guy.

Rough Game overall, right back at it tomorrow.

Tom Glavine (11-6 4.32) takes the hill for the Mets opposite Adam Eaton (9-8 6.36) for the Phillies, who will be making his first start of the DL.
